Still unknown territory

This location is currently known as the Shell site. The activities on this site focus on research and development of technology in the oil, gas, 'green' fuel and petrochemical industries. The site is not open to the public, although this is going to change. Technological developments have brought about changes in the work processes in such a way that Shell can carry out its business activities on a smaller part of the current 27 hectares. A more efficient, modern and compact site will be built on seven hectares. At the end of 2007 Shell will move to the New Technology Centre (NTC), which will free up space for building a new part of Amsterdam at a unique location.
